We spent New Year's Eve on a cruise! After spending time with our families over Christmas (and surviving an insanely cold and icy drive from Florida to Ohio), we flew to Miami to spend 7 nights on the Symphony of the Seas. This cruise was so different than the other 2 we did earlier in 2022. For one thing, this ship was the largest in the world until 2022. It really was massive, but well designed because it wasn't overwhelming or difficult to find your way around. We'd never done a Royal Caribbean cruise or departed on a cruise from the United States, so that was different too. Miami is the busiest cruise port in the world and it was very obvious when we checked in on New Year's Eve.

We flew from Toronto to Nashville to get our car from Bradley and Brett and see them for a few days before heading on a road trip around the southeast. We were able to go to dinner with Brett & Gabriel, then hang out with them the evening we got back. It felt strange how quickly we adjusted back to having our car and driving around Nashville. On Monday, we went to The Hermitage, Andrew Jackson’s house. It used to be a large plantation and now has manicured grounds and the historic house you can walk through. I didn’t know a lot about Jackson’s background, but left feeling like we learned a lot. It was very interesting to walk through the house that has been preserved to the time the Jacksons lived there.
