Brennan left Ohio on August 31 and flew to New York City for the night before heading over to the UK. 3 of Brennan’s favorite things are New York pizza, stand up comedy, and steak. He managed to fit all of these in his short time before his flight. Brennan flew the same route I would do 2 weeks later-New York to Warsaw, then flew on to London. He took much better pictures than I did to show the nice business class seats we booked with miles. He spent one night in London before taking a train just over the border into Wales, near Cardiff. This was his hotel near Cardiff-he was very excited to stay in a castle! Brennan had one day in Cardiff before continuing on to the dig near the coast. He hiked over 12 miles! Brennan has always wanted to try archeology and he was able to sign up for this volunteer dig on the Western coast of Wales. He spent a week digging with a team looking to learn more about this building from Roman times. About half the team was volunteers like Brennan (although most were retirement age!) and half were students from Cardiff University. They spent the week digging, sifting, and searching for treasure. Brennan was so tired after every day! The town where he stayed was St. David’s and this cathedral was there. Some artifacts were found at the dig site! This is a tool that was used to spin wool and a rock that was used as a hammer. Brennan didn’t love the archaeology as much as he was hoping to, but he still learned a lot from the experience. I’m really proud of him for trying something different and exploring an activity he’s always been interested in.

Reminds me of planning for gold in Alaska. Only dry. Good job.

We’d love to go to Alaska sometime! Panning for gold would be fun.
